The Future of Student News
Bright Hall has evolved, has a new home and a new name. We are now part of Politics Daily, "a political news magazine for the general reader updated every day, throughout the day...offering a thoughtful take on events." We're honored to be a part of this adventurous and forward-thinking site launch.
Henceforth, we will be know as The Cram, but our purpose remains consistent:
You will find your favorite writers and new faces on The Cram, as well as a beat on the topics that interest you most. This week we've covered the continued controversy over Notre Dame's selection of President Obama as this year's commencement speaker, how the New York State budget is aversely effecting the state's student population, the continued towering tuition increases at our nation's universities, an exclusive speech made by the Bush Administration official who deemed waterboarding legal, and, right now, we're tweeting live from Obama's "100th Day" town hall in St. Louis.
We hope you'll continue to follow us in our new form. We promise to deliver the same brand of insightful campus coverage that you came back for.

A naive human can only hope that a child works their way through college without indoctrination into a narrowminded, dependent way of existence that seems increasingly improbable. As our new, hip president indoctrinates these naive, rebellious thinkers; he becomes more like the counter culture than he does "the man". And how fucking smoothe is that. It's like shooting them where they shit. This is why we are now rife with a nation of 20 something, unemployed whiners. These self entitled and important idiots are soon to be the benefactors of a 10 trillion $ deficit that they have no comprehension of how to deal with....Se la vi'.... A fool and his money are soon parted... RIP USA... i loved you man....

I couldn't of said it better. I am a high school teacher and the students today need us more than ever. In this last year I have helped students through suicidal attempts, drug addictions, loss of boyfriends, family loved ones, now we are kicked out of our jobs, the majority of these kids do not have their own families to turn towards, now they do not have us to help them. And yes the other half of these kids have been waited on hand and foot and do not know how to wipe their own ass at this age. So they are in a world of hurt because they do not know what to do, they do not have anyone to turn to.

I have to weigh in on the future of "Student News." If you can be segregated or defined, then what you offer is not news. What you offer is entertainment that passes as news because it's what the "Real Journalists" are talking about. It sounds patronizing because it is. You can't let yourself be disrespected if you ever want to be taken seriously. Age ain't nothing but a number. If what you offer is serious, then don't let your age reduce your value. A student is just like a blogger. A threat to a journalist because they lost the courage to tell the truth and they don't get paid to defend relationships threatened by it. Student News can easily be excused, but a blogger can't be reduced so easily. What's the future...it's all about earning respect and getting a check. Do you think Grandpa is going to go quietly? Hells no! Student news has just been assimilated by the Borg and resistance is futile. What the heck does "Cram" mean?

Yes, I actually review my work and I'm not the greatest "Editor" in the world. I can write because I tell the truth. I can't write forever because I'm not getting paid to do it. In my review, I must clarify the Student/Blogger relationship. A student is like a blogger because both are threats to "Real Journalists." Whereas students and bloggers battle journalists for the respect and paychecks they already command, we are threats because we seek to tell the truth and journalists are the Corporate Tools that control it. Students and Bloggers are the future because we must seek the truth at any cost. Students can be enticed to follow the corrupt ways that journalism was built on, but a blogger is hopelessly lost. Throw enough cash at a student and they will use their situational ethics to make their lives profitable and rewarding hiding the truth as the next tool. Bloggers must use the truth to make a name and the cash doesn't come to us because a Corporation is not going to pay for something it cannot completely control. In short, you have been assimilated by the Borg. CRAM means...Can't Respect Adolescent Minds! We will tell you what's news, what's good, and what is the truth. Edit that!
