Help Us Find the 17 'Socialists' in Congress
The witch hunt has begun.
Channeling Joseph McCarthy, one of Alabama's Republican congressmen declared Thursday that no fewer than 17 socialists are roaming the corridors of the House of Representatives.
"Some of the men and women I work with in Congress are socialists," said Rep. Spencer Bachus at a Birmingham breakfast. When asked to clarify his comments, he said he knows of 17 socialist House members, The Birmingham News reported.
This statement lets us know two things about Bachus: He believes there are socialist members of Congress, and he doesn't think socialism is very good.
But, wanting to keep the big secret to himself, he didn't give any names. So, it's time to dust off the old shoe leather and do some investigative reporting. Where can we find a group of 17 socialists on Capitol Hill seeking to undermine the American way? I did some gumshoe digging through congressional groups and found two subcommittees with exactly 17 members. Coincidence?
The first is the Subcommittee on Livestock, Dairy, and Poultry, a division of the Agriculture Committee. But one of the members is Mike Rogers, one of Bachus's fellow Republicans from Alabama, and it's unlikely that Bachus would want to implicate a like-minded politician. So scratch that.
The other one I found was the Subcommittee on Homeland Security, part of the powerful Appropriations Committee. Now we're talking. No chickens and yogurt for these 17 policymakers; we're talking ballistic missiles and heavy-armor tanks, just the sort of thing a group of socialists would want to mess with. But unfortunately, a Google News search for "Subcommittee on Homeland Security + socialists" returns hardly anything. Seeing as that is the extent of my investigative capabilities, I was resigned.
Of course, it's entirely possible that the 17 socialists whom Bachus knows about are interspersed in clandestine ways among Congress's 435 House members. Well, 434 -- assuming that Bachus, the top Republican on the Financial Services Committee, does not suspect himself of being a socialist.
Or does he? A staple of socialism is controlling the media and the flow of information. The more censorship, the better for socialist leaders wanting to shape public opinion. Knowing that, take a look at Bachus's website, similar to the other websites kept by all members of Congress. When I tried to find out Bachus's recent committee news -- in "Committee News" under the "Press Room" tab -- I was greeted with this charming message:
"Not Found
The requested URL was not found on this server."
Now, hold on to your subpoenas, Justice Department officials. That broken link appears to lead not to Bachus's main page, but instead to something called "republicans.financialservices.house.gov." Now all we have to do is figure out who those guys are, and we're on our way to finding some answers.

Following Christ is freedom from the political views
of man;in that Jesus Christ is Our King , Our Leader Our Savior, and the only man who was spotless without sin.I continue to hear mans political views, conservative ,liberal, etc. and these views our expressed within some Churches , what man needs to do is focus on Our leader Jesus Christ.Tell me of one man who has not sinned?Jesus Christ said that no man is good ,out of mans heart comes adultry, murder, and I'm sure you know the rest of the scripture.Out of our Governments heart comes the expermentation of the RFB chip that is embedded in the right hand and leaves the mark of 666.See Janet Folgers website ,and review The Criminalzation For Cristianity ,to substaniate the afore-mentioned mark of the beast as set forth in Rev.13.Sincerely Your Friend in Christ David Laskiewicz

Let's see now, since all US Congress health care is "socialist" then anyone accepting it is likely supporting "socilaism." Maybe the embarrassing, ignorant congressman from Alabama will be glad to give up his "socialist" health insurance. I'll take it, it's the best in the world! Oh, and please give up your auto insurance, life insurance, military and police protection and take all relatives off medicare! What an ignorant redneck. It is time to build a wall around the south so they will not pollute the intelligence of America!

Sounds like a bunch of sour grapes are being squeezed here. What you are seeing is leadership for the 21st century in a globalized world. You little scared good old boys- you couldn't find your butt with your hands. He was a commie, then a non-american, then a socialist, now a pirate. He is your President for 4 years... grow up, shut up and get out of the way, or go wash your trailer.

John; Yes the Government should deem that a 30 year old built like Arnold Swartznigger ,is deemed as a failure due to his incarceration. He can't dig a ditch! The Government should provide health care, dental, insurance,a home and food for this man.Wrong!Yes, you should be taken care of by our Government!Whats wrong with being a functional working member of society?Laws that pertain to U.S. citizens don't apply to foreign nations! Our computer systems don't inner connect with MX.Under Nafta a MX citizen can drive truck in the U.S.A.The MX driver could have immigrated from Iraq to MX,or could have spent 20 years in a MX Prison, we have no re cord of this!He can now pull bombs through-out the U.S.A U.S.citizen who had posession of marajuana can't haul paint, his haz-mat endorsement is pulled. He can't do that ,he needs Socialist health care and a home.I work in a Country that doesn't want me to.David

Does Matt Negrin even know what socialism and socialists are? I doubt it. Could he even identify a socialist or a capitalist from a person's economic and political views? Probably not. Does he have even the slightest clue to how socialism and Marxism and Leninism and Fascism and National Socialism are linked? I doubt that as well. Has Matt ever owned a sizable business or paid his own taxes or run the maze of regulation that just a taste of socialism reguires. Naaah!Matt probably came on the scene way after the school systems taught anything about these things except "sharing is always good", "self interest is always bad". In economics and the practical realities of socialistic systems Matt is still "a student" with no real experience. He's just trying to feel smart and important telling us in a cute way how the rest of us should think. In short he's another a "jounalist."
53 Percent of the folks in this country still strongly prefer Capitalism to socialism. 20 percent think they would prefer socialism and 27 percent haven't got a clue what either one is. All this is not surprising given the abysmal level of economic uderstanding, economic historical perspective and economic practical experience in academia in this country. Most educators have never even operated worked outside of a tax funded institution. They haven't a clue where all the wealth for their employment originates. Interesting to note that nearly all those respondents prefering socialism to capitalism are under thirty, still in school and still being taken care of by someone else.
And our "representatives." Many are pure socialists. They call them Democrats, Progressives, etc. Some are mixed socialists but favor capitalism cause they know that only capitalism generates wealth. They call them Republicans. Whether its 17 or 400, it doesn't really matter. It only matters that their power to tax and regulate capital remains extremely limited or we all lose most of our ability to garner and hold wealth and most of our freedom to act in our own self interests.

Jan your an idiot too! You bet. T.Roosevelt was more than a socialist. And if you read about what he wantted to do he was actually a facist. He wantted the Gov. to control everything. But was still limited in what he could do, because of the Belief system in this country. And how stupid are you about europe? After 60 years now of being socialist, they now agree that, that system does not work! They are now slowly trying to move the other way. YES to the right. You eventually can't take any more money from people before they revolt! Those people are no longer so content. Those more recently freed countries that came out of Russian control, have become more capitaistic and are the most prosperous in Europe. Should we learn from the rest of Europe's mistakes? No probably not with so many stupid people that want everything given to them, with out working for it. There is a price to be paid for those stupid decisions.
Such as in England now if you get cancer they won't treat you because of cost. Just accept it! They also are having a hard time gettig good Doctors now. Not many want to go to medical school because there is no longer much incentive to do so! Dashel wantted all age related problems to not be treated because of cost. They were going to tell us just live with it. (He being rich enough to pay for treatment himself)No heart transplants in Canada if your fifty or above, just accept it. I can not believe how un informed so many are!

The bigger danger is the greedy CAPITALISTS in Congress and their crooked friends on Wall Street. Join us in taking back America and instituting an economic system based on fairness for all, not greed and corruption.

Lets see here? We have socialist versus capitolist? Under Capitolism the value of the dollar bill is higher than the value of the people! Under Socialism, the value of the people is higher than the value of the dollar bill!Remember now, Socialism and Communism ARE NOT the same thing!Communism is a type of socialism that Russia CHOSE to have when they ADDED teachings of Stalinism, Leninism, and other bad parts, that add up to Communism! Socialism is used in the U.S. and worldwide and has been for many years! if you remove PEOPLE from the equation, there is NO CAPITOLISM! It doesn't exist! Therefore, the PEOPLE are the important part and come FIRST!

Socialism refers to a broad set of economic theories of social organization advocating public or state ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods, and a society characterized by equality for all individuals, with a fair or egalitarian method of compensation.
Controlling the media is NOT a staple of socialism

Funny,I moved out of America to a socialist country and it seems to be fantastic. It's been voted the happiest country 4 or 5 years in a row. Can America say that? Nope! Everyone, living in this country, has opportunities that a lot of Americans could only dream of. I can finish going to school AND have a baby while I'm still studying, which is great since I'm almost 34 and not getting any younger. I can do this because I will get go to school for free AND get paid while in school. I will also get paid for staying home with my child for a year and not have to work.Actually,if I am in school at the same time,I will get paid double! I have better health care, and my children will always have health care. They also have dental until they're 18,for free. After that it's really cheap. My children will get to go to school for free AND get paid to go to school,so I don't have to worry about saving for college. ALSO,I will get money for each child, every month, until they're 18. I can either put that towards taking care of them,or saving it so they have more money to live off of when they move out.
Does America do any of this for it's citizens? This will never work in the U.S.,because Americans hate doing anything for their neighbors. Yes,we have high taxes, but you buy what you can afford and you don't even notice how expensive things are after awhile. Also, you get paid a lot more, for the same jobs,so it really evens out in a way.
If Americans really knew how it is in a socialist country, maybe more people would be for it.

I love how people throw words around when they have no idea what they mean.
There was a president in recent time who signed Medicare prescription coverage into law, supported the No Child Left Behind program for public schools and vouchers for private schools, expanded unemployment benefits, spent more money than any president since LBJ, and oversaw the largest increase in the national debt under any presidency in U.S. history. He also oversaw the federal takeover of several private banks and mortgage lenders, and he threw $700 billion of our money at Wall Street. Every single one of those acts can be defined as socialist.
The culprit? Republican George W. Bush.
