Bush Actually Not Nation's Worst President, Historians Say

For all the Bush bashers out there who say George W. was the worst president America has ever had, hold up. C-SPAN has a rebuttal.
C-SPAN, the cable television network devoted to televising government proceedings, released its Historians Survey of Presidential Leadership a few days ago in honor of Presidents' Day.
According to the votes of 65 presidential historians, George W. Bush was the country's 36th best president. That would make him, with 42 presidents total in U.S. history, the 7th worst president.
So don't call him the worst, at least for now. Unless you are willing to tango with 65 historians who together say otherwise.
Bob Woodward, one of the journalists who covered the Nixon Watergate scandal for The Washington Post, once asked Bush how history would judge the Iraq War. "History," Bush responded. "We don't know. We'll all be dead."
He'd probably be surprised to see this survey. (By the way, Nixon was ranked 27th overall).
After the jump, let's take a look at the rest of the list.Everyone's favorite president, Abraham Lincoln, came in first, followed by George Washington and Franklin Delano Roosevelt. James Buchanan came in last, at 42.
The historians also ranked the presidents in terms of 10 leadership characteristics. Bush didn't do that well on the rest of the tests, but Bush-bashers, let it be known, he was never the worst.
In the area of public persuasion, Bush was ranked 30th. FDR was first and James Buchanan last.
In the area of moral authority, Bush was 35th, George Washington was first and Buchanan last.
In the area of relations with Congress, Bush was 36th, FDR was first, and Andrew Johnson was last.
In the area of performance within the context of time, Bush was 36th, Lincoln first and James Buchanan last.
In the area of crisis leadership, Bush was 25th, Lincoln first and Buchanan last.
In the area of vison/ setting an agenda, Bush was 25th, Lincoln was first, and Buchanan last.
In the area of economic management, Bush was 40th, Washington was first and Buchanan last.
In the area of administrative skills, Bush was 37th, Washington was first and William Henry Harrison last.
In the area of pursued equal justice for all, Bush was 24th, Lincoln was first and Buchanan last.
In the area of international relations, Bush was 41, George Washington was first and William Henry Harrison last.
William Henry Harrison died after 32 days in office, so is it really fair to count him? I don't think so.
Bush bashers, if you want to say Bush was the worst president in the area of international relations, I'll let that slide.

Any 'historian' that weighs in on GWB's place in history, only days after the end of his administration, should be parking cars, not writing history.

BUSH, WAS THE WROST, AND I PRAY OUR COUNTRY IS NEVER EVER IS CURSED WITH SUCH AN UNQUALIFED LEADER AGAIN >>>
Too late. BO is the very definition of unqualified. All this fool has ever done is read a TelePrompTer and spend your grandchild's future. It's said that when Fascism comes to America it won't be at the point of the gun, but on the shoulders of a cheering crowd. You should stop calling yourselves democrats as that has become an oxymoron. You should rename yourselves the Red Lemmings.

Bush is certainly one of the very worse!
Responsible for not only starting but continuing and constantly lying about the Iraq War, only ....
THE BIGGEST BLUNDER IN US HISTORY !!!
AND UNLIKE PRES. CLINTON he did NOTHING about the warnings of likely terror attacks A MONTH before 9-11 !!! NOTHING !!
We all know Rush Limberger, Ann Ugly, Nasty McCain, Phony Palin, etc. would be calling for hanging a President who DID NOTHING WHEN WARNED OF A LIKELY ATTACK, NO INCREASE IN SECURITY AT ALL !!!
Then he becomes the Excuse President, nothing seems to be his fault [although Cheney is even worse somehow!]
He does not even ask his base, rich Republicans, who have 2-4 nice cars, expensive $ 500 shoes like McCain or several homes, to give a little more to help pay for these wars. Nope, just like his drunken frat days he figures why lose votes in 2004, just Borrow like crazy, although the public would have easily paid for real counter-terrorism money.
Then he has Ken Blackwell, etc. help to steal the election in 2004 [as also in 2000]. Google Rolling Stone magazine and Ohio 2004 for a detailed report, including a phony terror threat so about 10,000+ extra Bush votes could be slipped in, in addition to many more all over the state. Example: exit polls have been very accurate for decades, and showed Bush losing Ohio very easily.
But the networks were too timid and afraid to report these problems until it was too late.
The massive borrowing by the Republicans will drag down our economy and standard of living for many decades!
And as recent weeks show they borrow FOR DESTRUCTION, but whine and cry if money is FOR CONSTRUCTION !!!

The presidential historians are half Democratic and half Republican. For Big W to get so low a rating, he had to have earned all negative ratings from the Democratic historians, and MOSTLY negative ratings from the Republican historians. After, say 50 years later, when this truly becomes history, then party politics won't be on the mind of any presidential historians. Then and only then when we can expect to see unanamous postive votes of a truly well-desrving president such as Lincoln, and unanamous negative votes for a truly undeserving you-know-who. This article's too early to jump to the conclusion that W is not the worst.

All the liberal hysteria the last 8 years has done a wonderful thing though. I've never been a party line person. When I went to vote, I carefully examined all my choices on every issue before selecting. Now I simply vote anything but democrat on all levels. Calling the Democrats as a party separate from the communist party is a distortion and untruth...

You right wing cry babies are the laughing stock of the country. Whenever you don't get your way you want to take your ball and go running home. RESPECT your President or get out. Remember that? Speak ill of the President and you've committed treason. Remember that? We gave that smirking pig 8 years and he all but bankrupted the country yet you want to nail Obama to the cross after only 40 freakin' DAYS! Seriously...are you guys mentally challenged or just poor losers? Red states have a higher percentage of porn subscribers and red states have a lesser perentage of college graduates. LOL....statistically proven stupid perverts.

I would say Barack Obama (B.O.) ranks up there. But all the way to the grave his big mouth is going to blame others. His favorite saying is "This was inherited" as if it's all in our DNA and genes make-up! BO, solve it big mouth instead of giving excuses. That's why we elected you!

Go back in history and you will see that Jimmy (Miss Lillian)Carter first got us into this Arab mess. First with Iran since he wimped out on being a strong leader, and then with Afghanistan because he thought it was a country that didn't matter. LOL
Ayatollah's son wrote a memoir saying that they tested Carter by kidnapping the Americans to see how he would react and like a toothless tiger he didn't. You better be strong and brave when it comes to Our enemies!!

Bush II was one of this nations five or six WORST presidents. He was an unquestionable failure at every level. Bush was so bad that he should apologize for the disgraceful incompetance and willful damage he perpetrated upon this country. He was more than a disgrace, he was an insult to the very image of America. He was not only a national tragedy but also a criminal. Bush should be be scorned forever by this country for being the worst excuse for a leader all of us in any of our lifetimes' should have been forced to live through.

Bush and history........ the man didnt even understand the concept of history, as evidenced with his answer to the reporters simple question, the reporter should have drawn pictures and offered to hand out smiley faces then maybe Bush could have understood the question a little bit better, and I say maybe, and a little!!!! Seriously, its still unbelievable that a man with such limited thought processes could become president, we should give presidential contenders (and they have to score a passing grade) an intelligence test. He would have failed and over 4 thousand americAN kids, hundreds of thousands of Iraqs' would still be alive today, and there is absolutly no humor or argument there!!! Its like an insane dream or nightmare when I think back on the beginning of the bombing of Bagdad........ is this real, why in the hell are we just dropping bombs on these people, innocent, for no freaking reason, except some dumb-ass cowboy made an insane decision and congress decided we better get on board or we might loose the next election....... they should only get to be elected one time and that would stop the mindless votes of that portion of our checks and balances system of gov. that aint working!!!

Now the real truth .The worst president in US history is the economically and militarily incompetent ,pathological lying,anti-America, anti-military ,corrupt democratic president Obama. No argument whatsoever. R. Ross - Bill Clinton was responsible for the massacre of the 3,000 innocent American civilians on 9/11. Bill Clinton had too many chances/oppurtunities to take out Bin Ladin including Sudan trying to give up Bin Ladin 3 times to Clinton and Bill Clinton refused.Bin Ladin was at a sniper's rifle target but Clinton aborted it because he was afraid of civilian casualty who was visiting at that time with Bin Ladin in Afghanistan who was a Saudi Prince. Then the many warning signals/attacks that Clinton missed. There was this 1993 WTC garage bombing, the Khobar Tower military housing complex bombing in Saudi Arabia and the USS Cole bombing in Yemen which killed 17 US sailors. The unforgivable mistake happened in 1998 when 2 US embassies in Africa were bombed by Al-Qaeda killing hundreds which should have triggered already the invasion of Afghanistan to get Bin Ladin and Al-Qaeda. Instead Bill Clinton just launched symbolic missile strikes on a building owned by Bin Ladin in Sudan and on the training camp of Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan. I hope you know your history if not you should research it and prove me wrong.

R. Ross - I forgot to comment about doing something a month before 9/11 by Bush.Do you remember blaming Bush about the lousy intelligence regarding WMDs in Iraq. What would you have called Bush if he attacked Afghanistan a month before 9/11. How will the intelligence justify the attack on Afghanistan when even Bill Clinton did nothing with the 2 US embassy bombings in Africa.

I don't believe very many conservatives had to buy votes by giving drug addicts crack to vote multiple times. Liberal principles have been tried many times, and always failed. And they are failing now, as we watch the end if our great country being trampled by a bunch of corrupt Chicago politicians who think they are god's chosen ones. Yes, BO and friends.
