Obama to GOP: 'I Won, I'm The President'
Posted: Jan 25th 2009 5:15PM
Filed under: Politics, National News, News, Muskingum CollegeRepublicans wanting to play nice with the Democratic majority and the Obama administration will need to quit listening to Rush Limbaugh, Obama said, and get used to the new sheriff in town.
"You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done," Obama told GOP leaders whom he had invited to the White House. Obama set up the meeting to discuss his planned nearly $1 trillion stimulus package.

"One prong of the Great Unifier's plan is to isolate elected Republicans from their voters and supporters by making the argument about me and not about his plan," Limbaugh told the National Review's Byron York in response. "He is hoping that these Republicans will also publicly denounce me and thus marginalize me."
"To make the argument about me instead of his plan makes sense from his perspective," Limbaugh continued. "Obama's plan would buy votes for the Democrat Party, in the same way FDR's New Deal established majority power for 50 years of Democrat rule, and it would also simultaneously seriously damage any hope of future tax cuts. It would allow a majority of American voters to guarantee no taxes for themselves going forward. It would burden the private sector and put the public sector in permanent and firm control of the economy."
The full text of Limbaugh's response can be found here.
Obama went on to arrogantly claim that he essentially planned to ram his plan through without bipartisan support, nearly saying if anyone disagrees with him then they are going against some heavenly mandate. Let there be no doubt - he's the boss.
"I won," he told GOP leaders. "I'm the president."
The divisive comments come after years of campaigning on a promise to end partisan bickering and unite the country. GOP leaders have complained the legislation that included his stimulus package was drafted without the input Obama had promised to allow them.
The "flip-flops" haven't stopped there.
Stringent ethics rules, particularly targeting the so-called "revolving door" involving lobbyists, also have become part of what Transition Co-chair John Podesta described as "the strictest and most far-reaching ethics rules of any transition team in history."
During the campaign, Obama criticized Sen. John McCain for using lobbyists in high-ranking positions on his campaign. Obama himself promised no lobbyists would be a part of his administration - "They won't find a job in my White House." Yet, Mr. Obama's nominee for deputy secretary of defense, William Lynn, has been a lobbyist for the defense contractor Raytheon, and his nominee for deputy secretary of health and human services, William V. Corr, lobbied for stricter tobacco regulations as an official with the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids.
Obama also promised more transparency during the campaign and yet refused to allow television cameras to film him re-doing the botched swearing-in and also from signing the executive order reversing the Bush abortion funding ban on aid agencies abroad to avoid criticism from pro-life groups. The latter didn't slip under the radar of the Vatican, however, as one Vatican official called Obama "arrogant" for doing it.
After signing the order, Obama released a statement promising to "reach out to those on all sides of this issue to achieve the goal of reducing unintended pregnancies."
"It is time we end the politicization of this issue," he added quite ironically.

Oh please, don't let Rush Limbaugh flatter himself. Like he's this big important political target Obama took it on himself to defame. He named a commonly-recognized source of republican entertainment/news in a flippant joke. That's all. He might have easily said 'bill o' reilly'.

I'm so weary of idiotic comments. Does Obama really believe people take their cues from Limbaugh? If that were true, Obama would never have been elected. If Obama starts acting as those who voted for him are imbeciles by believing they make decisions based on talk host comments, before long his high popularity rating will plummet.

Subject: Read what a White Reporter wote in a Georgia Newspaper About the President
When Are WE Going to Get Over It? Andrew M. Manis is associate professor of history at Macon State College in Georgia and wrote this for an editorial in the Macon Telegraph.
For much of the last forty years, ever since America "fixed" its race problem in the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts, we white people have been impatient with African Americans who continued to blame race for their difficulties. Often we have heard whites ask, "When are African Americans finally going to get over it? Now I want to ask: "When are we White Americans going to get over our ridiculous obsession with skin color?
Recent reports that "Election Spurs Hundreds' of Race Threats, Crimes" should frighten and infuriate every one of us. Having grown up in "Bombingham," Alabama in the 1960s, I remember overhearing an avalanche of comments about what many white classmates and their parents wanted to do to John and Bobby Kennedy and Martin Luther King. Eventually, as you may recall, in all three cases, someone decided to do more than "talk the talk."
Since our recent presidential election, to our eternal shame we are once again hearing the same reprehensible talk I remember from my boyhood.
We white people have controlled political life in the disunited colonies and United States for some 400 years on this continent. Conservative whites have been in power 28 of the last 40 years. Even during the eight Clinton years, conservatives in Congress blocked most of his agenda and pulled him to the right. Yet never in that period did I read any headlines suggesting that anyone was calling for the assassinations of presidents Nixon, Ford, Reagan, or either of the Bushes. Criticize them, yes. Call for their impeachment, perhaps. But there were no bounties on their heads. And even when someone did try to kill Ronald Reagan, the perpetrator was non-political mental case who wanted merely to impress Jody Foster.
But elect a liberal who happens to be Black and we're back in the sixties again. At this point in our history, we should be proud that we've proven what conservatives are always saying -- that in America anything is possible, EVEN electing a black man as president. But instead we now hear that school children from Maine to California are talking about wanting to "assassinate Obama."
Fighting the urge to throw up, I can only ask, "How long?" How long before we white people realize we can't make our nation, much less the whole world, look like us? How long until we white people can - once and for all - get over this hell-conceived preoccupation with skin color?
How long until we white people get over the demonic conviction that white skin makes us superior? How long before we white people get over our bitter resentments about being demoted to the status of equality with non-whites?
How long before we get over our expectations that we should be at the head of the line merely because of our white skin? How long until we white people end our silence and call out our peers when they share the latest racist jokes in the privacy of our white-only conversations?
I believe in free speech, but how long until we white people start making racist loudmouths as socially uncomfortable as we do flag burners? How long until we white people will stop insisting that blacks exercise personal responsibility, build strong families, educate themselves enough to edit the Harvard Law Review, and work hard enough to become President of the United States, only to threaten to assassinate them when they do?
How long before we starting "living out the true meaning" of our creeds, both civil and religious, that all men and women are created equal and that "red and yellow, black and white" all are precious in God's sight?
Until this past November 4, I didn't believe this country would ever elect an African American to the presidency. I still don't believe I'll live long enough to see us white people get over our racism problem. But here's my three-point plan: First, everyday that Barack Obama lives in the White House that Black Slaves Built, I'm going to pray that God (and the Secret Service) will protect him and his family from us white people.
Second, I'm going to report to the FBI any white person I overhear saying, in seriousness or in jest, anything of a threatening nature about President Obama. Third, I'm going to pray to live long enough to see America surprise the world once again, when white people can "in spirit and in truth" sing of our damnable color prejudice, "We HAVE overcome."
It takes a Village to protect our President!!!

LAN, you are a real funny punk! HEEHEE. You know, when I was serving in the navy, getting shot at in Lebanon, I knew lots of brave folks, but not one was like you. They weren't chickenshit fags like you. You are the reason why the GOP is just a bunch of losers. Angry, nameless little losers who need Rush to speak for them.

Free Abortions for countries outside of the United States funded with our tax dollars, Thats real change...
Closing Gitmo and denouncing the United States as wrong will surely expose more tax dollars through law suits. Nothing like looking out for them attorneys, right counselor. Lets forget how they handle us in other countries... innocent civilian workers, beheaded and executed on TV. Change is coming....
Obama goes on Saudi TV and claims the United States has been making grave mistakes and wants to be friends now... Change is coming....

good post, but quite one sided. whites aren't the only racists in this country. every instance you use to define whites can be used to define blacks. that's the real problem. for all of our talk, we are still, at the very least, subconsciously divided along racial lines. it's just the way it is.

I have a quick question for all of you Republicans . You all claim that tax cuts are the solution, they will lead us to a better days, but let me ask you this how will tax cuts help people who can't pay taxes to begin with? hmmmm
And also, shame on those that say the democrats are trying to evoke fear in us all when they say policemen and teachers are going to lose their jobs because I can tell you right now in my small town ITS HAPPENING. I'd like you to go up to those people, those teachers, policemen, and fire fighters and tell them its just a fear tactic.

Robin- You can't report to the FBI the US military taking over the gov't to protect our freedom, national security, our citizens, honesty, justice system and our homeland and hold election right away. Your Messiah is developing an incompetent and corrupt democratic president Obama administration.Even before the election do you remember Ayers,Rev. Wright,Rezco,Acorn,Blagojevich and entire corrupt Chicago politicians. How about Michelle's comment of "For the first time in my life I am proud to be an American" and "America is a mean country".What was she thinking living in Africa? Also remember Obama's own book and in his own words said that "If the political winds shift in an ugly direction I will stand with the muslims". He is doing it now by dropping the charges against the mastermind of the USS Cole bombing in which 17 American sailors, talking with Iran, close Gitmo and give the islamic terrorists more rights than the 3,000 American 100% innocent civilians massacred on 9/11 and the beheading of 5 American innocent civilians in Iraq.Obama,Pelosi and Murtha failed to surrender our US troops in Iraq which is now a democracy.Obama is now withholding more US troops to Afghanistan so that the US troops will be overran by the islamic terrorists in the safe haven of Pakistan. What other evidence do you need.

Letrice- Why were you not standing together with Bush while he was protecting us from the 9/11 islamic terrorists attacks that never happened after 9/11 on Bush watch. Why were you criticizing Bush and calling him a war criminal.Bill Clinton could have prevented 9/11. He had many opportunities and many warning signals before 9/11.The last in 1998 when 2 US embassies in Africa WERE BOMBED BY AL-QAEDA. THAT SHOULD HAVE TRIGGERED THE INVASION OF AFGHANISTAN TO GET BIN LADIN AND AL-QAEDA. BILL CLINTON was responsible for the massacre of 3,000 American 100% innocent civilians on 9/11. The Iraq war started because Saddam refused the WMDs search. It was not a question of whether there were or no WMDs in Iraq and the war was supported by the UN,US,EU and even the democrats.Obama, Murtha and Pelosi tried to surrender our US troops in Iraq but they failed. Iraq is now on it's way to democracy. Our US troops in Iraq killed thousands of multinational islamic fanatics who went to Iraq AND THAT IS WHY IT TOOK SOMETIME TO KILL THEM ALL AND WAS HELPED BY THE SURGE AND THE IRAQ AWAKENING COUNCIL.Now Obama is witholding US troops surge in Afghanistan so that the islamic terrorists in the safe haven in Pakistan can be overran our US troops. We can't win this war in Afghanistan because we are only fighting a defensive war but at least bring reinforcements to strengthen/ protect the remaining US troops in Afghanistan so as not to sacrifice needlessly more US troops .
