Obama the Plagiarist!

Filed under: US Elections, Politics, Featured Stories, Boston UniversityI don't know if I'm offended as a journalist or as a comedian.
Everyone today is talking about Barack Obama's silly little comment about John McCain's policies being an ugly pig that not even lipstick can pretty up. But the real story lies in his preceding words, lifted almost straight from a Tom Toles political cartoon.

Obama mocked McCain's claim that the Arizona senator is the real "change" agent that Washington needs. He said:
"Watch out, George Bush! Except for economic policy, healthcare policy, tax policy, education policy, foreign policy and Karl Rove-style politics, we're really going to shake things up in Washington!"
Hah. Hah.
And now the text from Toles's Washington Post cartoon, spoken by the caricatured McCain standing next to Sarah Palin near the White House:
"Watch out, Mr. Bush! With the exception of economic policy and energy policy and social issues and tax policy and foreign policy and Supreme Court appointments and Rove-style politics, we're coming in there to shake things up!"
Now, in Obama's defense, he's pretty accurate (and so is Toles, unsurprisingly). There are scant policy differences between McCain's positions on the big issues and President Bush's. The difference between the two Republicans lies pretty much in age and military service.
Also, I recall seeing Obama on a cable-news network referencing the cartoonist's work before he made his diatribe. So, a little half-tribution there.
But come on, Barack! What is it, seven months since you were accused of plagiarizing Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick's "just words" speech? And you also selected as a running mate a man who left the 1988 presidential primary race amid accusations of plagiarism?
If this guy is elected, should we expect his inauguration address to begin, "Four score and seven years ago, I had a dream that we have nothing to fear but fear itself"?
Sometimes you just can't teach an old pig new tricks.

I would have agreed with only if you had balanced your story with McCain's plagiarism. Few weeks a ago McCain lifted portions of a British politicians speeech for his ad ". . . don't hope for change demand it" plus others. Oh, I just realized you're not a journalist but just a stupid blogger so you don't have to have a balanced blogg.

It seems to me that Obama doesn't have a logical thought. He is flying by the seat of his pants, copying everyone else or doing what his 'experienced' advisors tell him to do and say. This man has no clue as to what he is doing. Maybe the 'community organizer' experience gave him what he needed to 'organize' people to run this campaign. Other than that, this man is a NOTHING!

The biggest, most blatant plagiarist is McCain--whatever happened to his 'experience' theme? He has no shame, thinks Americans are stupid enough not to see how he is trying to align himself with Obama's message of 'change' for the sake of votes. He is so insulting to women that he bought himself one for a running mate, and takes Barbie-wife with him on to the 'View" to shore up his phony patronization. Pitifully embarassing. Just pathetically transparent to anyone with a brain.

Has anyone but me notice the entire Repulican Platform look and sound like what the Democrats have been talking about for months?
McCain starts and ends his rallies now with CHANGE. Want to guess where that came from? You guess it, Obama.
McCain never voted for an Alternative Energy Bill in 26 years in Senate. All of a sudden he's going to bring Alternative Energy. Want to guess where that came from? You guess it, Obama and Gore.
McCain spent 26 years in DC now he wants to shake it up and change things. Want to guess where that came from? You guess it, Obama. That's been his plan from day one.
Are you beginning to see what most Americans are seeing. Obama is supposed to be this no experienced, not qualified person but the entire Republican Platform looks just like Obama's Platform except they aren't talking about their plans on education, economics, etc. I know why they don't want to talk about the economy because they haven't a clue what's really going on. They still think it's OK and we're growing, doing fine, etc.
Amazing how Obama can be such a loser and so MANY are adopting his ideas and plans. Want to guess where Rice is? Hint: She's talking to a country they haven't spoken to in decades and they just got through talking to Iran, China, Pakistan, etc. All of whom you Republicans said we shouldn't be talking to because we're Americans. What a joke.
Obama is making the entire Republican Party look like a joke for condemning him and now stealing his platform. You might as well admit Obama is the better candidate because everytime McCain open his mouth and repeat Obama's platform, he proves who's the better candidate.
I wonder if Obama had stolen McCain's platform, how many of these hypocrites on here would be screaming and calling Obama everything but a Child of God?
Kim, I don't understand why such a remark from you..tc my friend

Obama doesn't seem to have a single original thought of his own. And when he's off the teleprompter and reachong for something original all you get it "um", "er", "uh", or "y'know". What a tool.

Ooops, again, I have to remind myself that Palin is not running on the ticket for the Republican President..oops, gotta remember that one.

I would just to say that this whole election is about race. No one wants a black man in the office of President. So, things are being say about Obama that are false. We have two people running for the same office(one black and one white)the world is not ready for a black President; but, they are ready for a woman who was unknown until she was picked for vice-president. Come on people, think about it is she really to take over if something happens to McCain?

Speaking of plagarism, in Obama's acceptance speech he borowed the essence from words that were spoken in the movie, "The American President..."

The point here is that John McCain is a lying hypocrite. He is on board with every single Bush policy and he isn't going to change a darn thing.
Barck Obama is a very smart person that happens to read everything. Everyone uses the words of other people. There are very few new thoughts. Obama gave credit to the person that made the cartoon. The cartoonist probably got the idea from the truth.
Except for economic policy, healthcare policy, tax policy, education policy, foreign policy and Karl Rove-style politics, we're really going to shake things up in Washington!"

None of us have an original thought. All of our thoughts are based on our experiences and what we have learned from others. At least Obama gave credit to the cartoonist. Get a life. This weak attempt to attack Obama is replete with malaise.
