Muslim Student Site Edited by University Admin
From the Daily Trojan, student newspaper at the University of Southern California: "Provost C. L. Max Nikias has approved the deletion of part of a Muslim student group website that hosted religious documents urging Muslims to kill Jewish people. The material was removed from a collection of scriptures known as hadiths, historical sayings of the Prophet Muhammad not included in the Quran."
So apparently, my university hosts a massive online collection of hadiths. Who knew? Stowed away in this endless collection of reading material, in Book 041, Numbers 6981-6985, were various iterations of: "You will fight against the Jews and you will kill them until even a stone would say: Come here, Muslim, there is a Jew (hiding himself behind me); kill him."

In a letter to USC trustee Alan Casden, Nikias called the passage "truly despicable" and said it violates the university's Principles of Community.
The Muslim Student Union, the largest Muslim student group on campus, said the university had ruined a classic: "We are outraged at the censorship of a complete religious and classic text without consulting us or any religious authority first," the group said in the statement. "The 'compendium' is now incomplete. There are verses in many religious texts (be it the Torah or the New Testament) that when taken out of context can be taken as offensive."
Classic texts or not, the University ultimately has the right to decide what rests on its servers. The MSU says Nikias should have consulted religious authorities first -- and perhaps he did -- but you can't fault the university for deleting that specific text. It does not appear alongside any contradicting or explanatory statements, and so readers could reasonably interpret the text literally. (Whether that hadith is meant literally or not, I cannot say; I am not a theologian.)
Regardless, I was amused to find that identical text is still being hosted by USC, in a different part of the same site:
Killing the Volume 4, Book 52, Number 177: (from USC's website) Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. 'O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him.'"
Deleted hadiths:
Book 041, Number 6981: Ibn 'Umar reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: You will fight against the Jews and you will kill them until even a stone would say: Come here, Muslim, there is a Jew (hiding himself behind me); kill him.
Number 6982: Ubaidullah has reported this hadith with this chain of transmitters (and the Words are): "There is a Jew behind me."
Number 6983: Abdullah b. 'Umar reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: You and the Jews would fight against one another until a stone would say: Muslim, here is a Jew behind me; come and kill him.
Number 6984: Abdullah b. 'Umar reported that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: The Jews will fight against you and you will gain victory over them until the stone would say: Muslim, here is a Jew behind me; kill him.
Number 6985: Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The last hour would not come unless the Muslims will fight against the Jews and the Muslims would kill them until the Jews would hide themselves behind a stone or a tree and a stone or a tree would say: Muslim, or the servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me; come and kill him; but the tree Gharqad would not say, for it is the tree of the Jews.

This is just another example of "some" Muslim's using our constitutional rights of Freedom of Speech to further their own agenda. Why is there this nonsense of wanting to destroy all of the Jews? These are students at a university, what part of the Jewish, Christian, and Muslim people all being part of the Abramic religion's don't they understand? If these morons want to slam the Jews so much I would suggest they get on their camels and go back to the Middle East. Freedom of Speech is essential in a free society, but you still can't yell "fire" in a theatre unless there is one. These jerks should be kicked out of USC and sent packing.

The people in this country should take a stand against the Muslims and DEMAND that they not be allowed to be students here - free country, freedom of speech be damned. This is AMERICA not MUSLIM country and they should be deported green card and citizenship BS revoked. And don't tell me this is America. Yes, this is, so act like it and stop the sheep act because if this type of thing and these people are not stopped they will take over the country, eventually, while we Americans are all sleeping and being complacent. We should all band together, in every state, and not go to work for a week and not frequent Wal-Mart for a week. You think this wouldn't send them all scurrying to figure out what they're going to do? NOT use any gas or buy Wal-mart for a week would hurt them in their pocketbooks. Our gas prices just went up 23 cents a gallon since yesterday in Alabama. Let China and Europe buy the oil and see what happens if the US, probably the largest user, doesn't. Send the Muslims back to their camels and sand and get rid of them from this country. We are stupid to allow what's happening to continue. The politically correct garbage to let a group of people take over your country needs to stop.
I can't believe there is no response to this article - if this was a Britney Spears or Paris Hilton article there would be scads of replys. You see what interests people here? Trivia.

I too believe in Freedom Of Speech, but I also believe alot of what I hear and read has taken the true meaning out of context, there is a limit you know or at least there should be. Have we forgotten the meaning of the words "Treason Or Traitor"? Seems to me, those words fit better than "Freedom of Speech" If you don't like America, GET OUT, We the People that love and appreciate America don't want you here.
I agree, something has to be done, we need to take a stand, our Government needs to do something. Get rid of these people, get them out of our Country. If we don't I think we will lose our America, the America we took pride in. MAYBE WE OURSELVES ARE THE TRUE TRAITORS, ALLOWING/HELPING OUR COUNTRY TO BE TAKEN AWAY FROM US, BY MUSLIMS OR WHOEVER (TO AID & ABET) THINK ABOUT IT.
I don't have the answer, but by God, I hope somebody does. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

I am a Judeo-Christian and Yeshua the Christ is my Lord. This country, no matter how Obama had said in a video to the entire nation that it is not a Christian country, it is a country of Christian values. I say to the muslims, this country was built on the Judeo-Jews doctrine- and the Christian- Yeshua doctrine of the New Testament. Every muslim, hindu, buddist, and unbelievables are "vistors" and have every right to worship as they please. But, don't forget that our Lord Yeshua the Christ is our Messiah, and if you don't like this truth- get the hell out of here and go to the country that your G-d is worshipped. Now, you know why the grassroots are beating the hell out of the fake christian Obama. Anyone who stand in front of an podium, like Obama and say "this is not a Christian country anymore", is not a Judeo-Christian . He has denied Christ as the thirty piece of silver of Judas. I applaud the University for stopping these type of haterd toward founding beliefs, and if this muslim student wants to spread hate- go to Iraq, Iran and other countries that welcome it.

The unbelievers are citizens and not just visiting.
There are many of us. It has nothing to do with supporting the president or our country. This is where separation of church and state and the unchurched meet.
